Their mission claim:
To bring about radical breakthroughs for the benefit of humanity.
The way they are doing it:
Creating prize funds to incentivize teams to come up with solutions to global problems.
Reminds me of:
JFK's challenge to US scientists to put a man on the moon within ten years.
(Hopefully) gets round the:
God awful vested interests that suppress or buy up innovations in order to sustain their business model despite grave ecological consequences (and paralyse progress).
